Ryan Bernal takes it to the field in Hanford, takes the checkered flag!
USAC WEST COAST 360 SPRINT – May 11 – Hanford, CA - Kings Speedway - "Billet Cup"
Lately, Bernal and the JFM team do not go home with anything less than a win!
Ryan Bernal out of Hollister, CA, and the Josh ford Motorsports team started the evening running their new 360 in the qualifier. The shiny new white JFM 73 car rolled onto the track and did not finish the first lap. Motor problems.
Now, piloting the backup #73 King Racing Products / A&A Precision CNC Machine in the qualifier, Ryan was 8th quick overall, putting him to start 4th in the second heat. Coming from the fourth spot Ryan powered his way to a 2nd place finish just behind Austin Liggett in the 10 lap Second Heat. With a field of 18, the “Billet Cup” here in Hanford, ran two 12 lap qualifiers. Ryan started the Second Qualifier in 6th, finishing 4th taking him to second in points for the ‘Cup’.
Racing the backup car, though the car that has taken Ryan and JFM to the winners circle 5 times running, Bernal started way towards the back of all contenders in 14th for the 40 lap Feature. Ryan pushed his way through the field methodically, weaving his way to the front getting by Dennis Howell in the 37th lap and taking home the win! We won the Feature, though we just missed winning the ‘Cup’ by 1 point. Great night of racing!
